Brian Brialey

After finishing grade 12 I commenced flying training at the Bundaberg Aero Club and qualified as a Commercial Pilot at the end of 1969.

Initially I worked for small charter companies in Queensland and a cattle station in the Northern Territory, before going to Papua New Guinea in January 1974 where I piloted light twin-engines aircrafts.

I’ve been with Air Niugini since 1978, and now based in Brisbane as a Captain on the Boeing 767. Air Niugini operates the 767 from Port Moresby to Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila, Tokyo, Brisbane and Sydney. Prior to transferring to the international fleet in 1987 I flew such aircraft types as the Fokker Friendship, Fokker Fellowship and Dash 7 on their domestic network.

The job with Air Niugini has taken me to many places throughout the world on Charters and Training Courses for the different aircraft types I’ve operated: Toronto/ Dash 7; Toulouse/Airbus 310 and Auckland/B767. I’ve also spent time in Sofia, Bulgaria and Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam doing some flying for the local airlines.
