Well I wasn't the most committed student, too many horses I suppose.

After leaving school I went and worked on a property south of Rockhampton for 12 months. I then came back to Bundaberg and went and worked for the Innes family at Walla Station Gin Gin for 2 years.

In 1969 I was lucky enough to represent Qld & The Australian Pony Clubs as a member of the Australia Team for the Pony Club Interpacific Games. Although the year I was a team member Australia hosted these events.

On returning I headed south and worked on properties around Armidale & Ebor in NSW for a few years. I got sick & tied of working for other people and with the help of the family we bought Orethwaite at Walcha on the New England Tablelands in 1972. The property was 1700acres, had 3 paddocks and an old set of sheepyards and nothing else.

In 1975 married a local Walcha girl Denese (best thing I ever did), we lived in a shed before we could afford a house.

In 1979 Kassie came along and in 1983 Dwayne (D) arrived. Kassie now married to Oliver and lives on their sheep & wheat property at Canowindra NSW. In January 2006 we became grandparents to Victoria (Tori)

D lives on Orethwaite with his girlfriend Stacey and helps out at home and works casually around Walcha.

Both Kassie & D followed in my footsteps and were very successful in the pony club world. Kassie was a member of the Australian Pony Club team 30 years after myself and represented Australia in USA.

D & I compete in campdraft events around the local scene, so we are all still involved in the horse world.

We now have 3600 acres running sheep & beef cattle, more debt and still too many horses. But all is good.
